found my creepy pumpkin (303/365)

last layout to share tonight is one I created based on scrapbook challenges #449:
449

Here is my take:

I really love how this layout turned out!!!

Hope you can play along with scrapbook challenges this month (hey you still have a couple of hours to link up): http://scrapbookchallenges.com/sketch-449/

waiting for the bus (302/365)

next up is a layout of my son and mom on Kyle's first bus ride. Little background: kyle has been wanting to go on a school bus for MONTHS but as he was almost three we didn't have the option available to go on a bus so when playgroup brought in a school bus to give trips around the block for the kids we jumped on the opportunity. We didn't tell kyle where we were going or what was going on but the second we went out the door he saw the bus and completely lost his mind. I know in the pictures he looks upset but that is because he was angry we made him stop on the stair and turn to mommy so i could get a picture, rather than get on the bus.  I have videos of him sitting on the bus ride going "this is awesome!!"

I used Let's Get Sketchy week 4's sketch:

In Loving Memory (301/365)

The next layout I have been wanting to make for the last two and a half years (ever since she passed away) but have been waiting for the perfect sketch to inspire me and when I saw Let's Get Sketchy Week 2 I knew it was the perfecct one:

I love the lace and the circles and just everything about it. Here is my take:

Sorry for the blurry photo (not quite sure what happened there). The card is actually from her memorial service. I did not go back home for the service as I wanted to remember Emma from our last visit. Emma was my next door neighbour ever since I was 3 (when we moved next door). When I moved away to go to school (20 years later) I got the call that she had had a stroke and was going to live in a hospice from then on. For the next 8 years she lived in hospice and every time I came back home, I would always go and visit her. The nurses were always amazed at how whenever I came into the room and kissed her on the forehead, she immediately remembered me and all the memories from all our years as neighbours. She really was like my third grandma and not a day goes by I don't think of her.

abracadabara (300/365)

One of my son's favorite things to do is dress up like a magician (lightening mcqueen toque, cape, recorder [magic wand]) and perform magic tricks (aka daddy put a car under a towel in his hand, kyle says abracadabara and then daddy removes the towel and the car is magically gone). We do this atleast once a week (usually more) so one day I grabbed my camera and documented.

I used The Memory Nest Make it Monday #43 as it worked so well with my photos.

just awesome (299/365)

I have a bunch of layouts to share with you tonight, I am heading out of town tomorrow for an extended long weekend for a family anniversary party and a medical procedure Tuesday. To start off is a layout I created of my little man (usuallly i stay away from bright pastels when scrapping my son because i think, scratch that, THOUGHT it wouldn't look very good but I was wrong!!!!

The cut file is from paper issues (free cut file fyi). I used gelatos and water and when it dried i cut the title!!

I used lots of mists and paints in the background, the circle are from a collection i cannot remember for the life of me. The papers are prima. I am so in love with this layout and hope you enjoy it too!!!

I am entering this in another freaking scrappy challenge for July where you had to use the word "awesome" in your layout somewhere (title): http://another-freaking-scrappy-challenge.blogspot.ca/2015/07/july-2015-scrapbooking-challenge.html

I am also entering this in Let's Capture Our Memories July Colour challenge: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2015/07/july-color-spot.html

Anniversary Canvas

It is my husband's grandparents 60th anniversary this weekend and as a gift I got a hold of their wedding photo (this is the only picture of the two of them on their wedding day!!), it was restored and I enlarged it to make it into a canvas for them to have for years to come (can you believe they don't have their own wedding photo??). I am so happy with the way it turned out and cannot wait to see their face this weekend!!

I wanted the photo to be the star so stayed very neutral, only using blue with the black and white (with a bit of brown). I am submitting this for Scrap Our Stash Challenge #28

P: paint, prima (flowers), photo corners
H: heat gun (to dry modeling paste), heart
O: oversized photo
T: tim holtz (stencil, crackle paint), tibetan poppy teal (mist)
O: overlapping
S: stamping, scallops

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments :) hope you can play along this month with Scrap Our Stash: http://scrapourstash.blogspot.ca/2015/07/stash-challenge-28.html

Happy Birthday - Sketch N Scrap #5

next up is a card I made for a birthday party we attended last weekend for one of my son's friends:

I used Sketch~n~Scrap #53 as my inspiration:

I did this card a couple of times and still am not happy with it as the recipient is a two year old boy who loves horses. . .but I couldn't get it to look more child-like but gave it to him anyways and he loved it!!!!

Hope you can play along this month with sketch n scrap: http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com

some kind of wonderful (274/365)

next up is a fun layout I made of my aunt at our family reunion a few summers back. I was inspired by PCC's Magazine monday week #108 and 123 Challenge. First up my layout:

This month's 123 challenge was to use fluros (colours), kind (in title), and ribbon (the watermelon is ribbon): http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au/2015/07/123-challenge-july-2015-design-team.html

This week's PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday Week 108 inspiration: http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-108/
Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 108 Inspiration Piece (image)

I was inspired by the bright colours and when i first looked at the cut up fruit on the left hand side I saw watermelon (i now get that they are watermelon) as well as the waves along the side (which is why i used stripes of paper behind my photo.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you can play along with PCC magazine monday week 108 and 123 Challenge :)

peacock (273/365)

next up was a fun (yet challenging) layout i did. Scrapbook challenges is doing a july spelling bee challenge where you have to use the elements from the following list to spell out your hometown: http://scrapbookchallenges.com/july-spelling-bee-challenge/
0715_sbcspellbee

Fortunately, they have a 10 letter limit so my home town (port alberni) doesn't qualify so instead I used ALBERNI:

A(rrow) - papers
L (ace) - top left corner
B (utton) - used 6
E (nvelope) - behind the photos
R (ub on) - top right corner the purple flourish is a rub on by fancy pants
N (eon) - used neon green, neon orange, and neon blue
I (nk splatts) - background

the current sketch from stuck sketches worked perfectly for this challenge: http://stucksketches.blogspot.ca/2015/07/july-15-2015-sketch-challenge.html

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, hope you can play along with Scrapbook Challenges and Stuck?! sketchs this month :)

You are so Lovely - Scrappy Friends July Challenge (272/365)

I went top shelf using chipboard (title), brads (on the tags), and paint splatters

thank you for stopping by, hope you can join this month's scrappy friends challenge :)
