Happy Valentine's Day Card

I am very happy to share with you this beautiful card I made for my parents for Valentine's Day:

I was inspired by Papercrafter's Corner Magazine monday Week 85 with the torn heart and multi-blue background:
Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 85 Inspiration Piece (image)

I was also inspired by the following sketch from Cardabilities:

To create the background, I took a piece of DCWV white cardstock embossed paper and painted tim holtz distress stain (broken china) into one corner, tim holtz distress paint (salty ocean) into another corner and tim holtz distress paint (chipped sapphire) into another corner. Once it dried I misted lindy's stamp gang (tibetan poppy teal) over it.

Other supplies:
paper: authentique (crush 6x6 pad)
other: we r memory keepers (sew easy board), ranger (glossy accents), forever in time (sequins), dmc floss, stampin' up (tiny sentiment stamps), tim holtz distress pad (picked raspberry)

Thank you for stopping by, and for your wonderful comments I truly appreciate them :)

Hope you can play along with PCC Magazine monday (you have until tomorrow to submit your entries): http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-85/

letter from santa (15/365)

Merry Christmas - Let's Get Sketchy January Week 2 (14/365)

So all week I have been battling with a cold and although i no longer feel as though i could be an extra on walking dead without going to make-up first, i don't feel comfortable taking my son to playgroup in case we infect someone else. So instead we have been having crafting days in the morning, so while I scrapbook, my son plays playdough or like this morning coloured stickers and then put them in his book :) So while he was stickering, I was able to get some playtime in and created a layout based on this sketch for Let's Get Sketchy January week 2:

Here is my take, I flipped it and added some tags, instead of flowers I used snowflakes:

Supplies used:
paper: DCWV (candy cane lane stack)
inks: tim holtz distress pad (black soot), lindy's stamp gang starburst (glory of the seas gold), smooch (snickerdoodle)
snowflakes: recollections (stickers), a2z scraplets (chipboard)
other: american craft (twine), martha stewart (fine glitter)

Pixels and Paper Challenge January Guest Designer (layout 11-12/365)

A couple of weeks ago, I got a very exciting email asking me to be a guest designer for January's Pixels and Paper challenge. I jumped at the opportunity and was asked to create a project based on this photo as inspiration:

I loved this photo so much that I was actually inspired and created two separate layouts.

The first layout is: beach toes. I created the sunburst, clouds and title with my new silhouette. To create the sunshine I twisted american craft twine around a piece of therm-o-web icraft dots 2". I added a bit of paint behind the clouds to add some dimensions and added glitter glue to the sunburst.I also painted the "sand" paper with folk art gold glitter paint. Other supplies: sticko (stickers), paper (karen foster). I am also submitting this layout for Picture This January Challenge: 1 photo, sunburst, paint:

My second layout I created: sunshine: catching waves. I love this photo so much, it was taken last summer during our family camping trip in the shuswap. I created the background using blue, white and gold gelatos, water and a paintbrush. While it was drying I cut the background using my silhouette. I then took out all of the pieces of papers and used studio calico (atlantic 6x6 paper pad) for the beach supplies. Other supplies: imaginisce (endless summer die cuts), we r memory keeper (enamel shapes: warm), tpc studio (just beachy).
