Building Towers - LCOM #52 (layout 415)

Another fabulous sketch from Let's Capture our Memories by Melissa Williams:

And my take:

This was such a fun layout to create. I had a couple of Lego brand papers but wanted to add some texture so I dry embossed different coloured papers with my cuttlebug and Tim Holtz folder to create "lego like" blocks.

Supplies used:
Lego scrapbook kit
cuttlebug
tim holtz embossing folder
indian corn glimmer mist
making memories eyelets

thank you for stopping by and hope you play along at Let's Capture our Memories (there are still a few hours left in December): http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2013/12/lcom-sketch-52-reveal.html

back from holidays and back to scrapping, Smurfin' Around - LCOM #51 (layout 414)

I am back from holidays. We drove to Vancouver Island to visit my family. It was definitely a slow drive (a 9 hour stretch took us 12.5 hours) and we did 80km most of the way (rather than the 100km posted) as the roads were so terrible.

Before I left I figured I was done scrapping for the year since I thought unpacking would take up lots of time; fortnuately I was completely spoiled with scrapbooking stuff for Christmas which motivated me to unpack quicker (stayed up late a couple of nights) so I could scrap with my new supplies :)

The first layout I did when I came home is Let's Capture our Memories Sketch #51 which is actually a card sketch but I turned it into layout. Here is the sketch:

And here is my take:

These pictures were taken last summer when my son and I went down to visit my mom. Her sister, Ayrma was also down from Yellowknife to visit and we stopped at McDonalds for lunch before our flight.

Supplies used:
papers: GCD studios (indian summer)
tags: unknown dollar store
twine: american craft
ink: distress ink (weathered wood)
banner: heidi swapp
stickers: heidi swapp

thank you for stopping by, and hope you can come play at LCOM: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2013/12/lcom-sketch-51-reveal.html

Baby's First Step - LCOM Sketch #50 & December WW1 (banana) (layout 413)

Wow cannot believe how productive I was today!!!!

This is another layout that I did that actually fit into two challenges. The first is Let's Capture our Memories sketch #50 by Melissa Williams:

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I was going to make it into a layout (it is designed as a card); however, when I saw the lace I had the perfect lace in my stash that I have been wanting to use since I got it (almost a year ago) but never found the right layout for it. When I pulled the ribbon I immediately thought of the pictures my sister-in-law just sent me of my niece taking her first indepent steps using her walker. As I was pulling supplies to create the layout, I found myself moving towards yellows and then realized that this layout would fit in perfectly with this month's White with 1 challenge:

  WW1

This is what I created:

supplies used:
paper: american crafts cardstock (white), momenta
frame: unknown
ribbons: unknown (been in my stash forever)
shoes: jollee (baby's 1st steps)
sticker: k&company, unknown
rub-on: 7 gypsies (baby cakes)
mists: tattered angels (yellow sun)
paint: american art (yellow)
jewels: unknown dollar store

thank you for stopping in, hope you can play along at LCOM: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2013/12/lcom-sketch-50-reveal.html

family xmas pics - LCOM December Colour Spot (layout 412)

Colour challenges are always hard for me, probably because I am so used to using only 2 or 3 colours/shades on a layout so when I have to use 5 or 6 I get a little overwhelmed; however, this month's colour challenge at Let's Capture our Memories didn't freak me out as much (probably because it's Christmas colours nd they match the new DCWV stack I just got perfectly!!!)

Here is this month's colour spot:

And here is my take:

journalling reads: whenever I am home, I always take as many pictures as I can. While we were home for Christmas we got dressed up and went for dinner at the Little Bavaria then to my grandparents for dessert adn photos. December 28 2012.

Holiday Hugs - LCOM #48, FWAB December Challenge (layout 410)

I was actually able to combine a couple of challenges this month (which actually works out pretty well since it's the middle of December and I leave for holidays in less than a week).

I took sketch #48 by Isabelle:

Instead of the flags, I made stockings (to go along with the Christmas themed layout), but for the most part stayed true to the sketch.

Flourish with a Bling's December challenge was to:
1. create a Christmas themed project (layout, card OTP etc) - created a layout
2. Include a Christmas tree somewhere (It can be in the photo, on paper, an embellishment etc) - on the paper
3. Include at least one Flourish with a Bling item.  - used pearls in chocolate

Here is my creation:

Supplies used:
papers: DCWV jolly whimsy stack
letters: doodlebug design
ink: distress ink pads (picked raspberry & evergreen bough)
pearls: FWAB (chocolate)

thanks for stopping by :)

Cherish the Moment - A2Z Scraplets December Challenge

When I saw this month's challenge mood board, not going to lie it kinda scared me. But the more I looked at it, the more the pictures made me happy and I thought about happy things and I thought about the idea that was in my head for my mom's Christmas present. Back in the summer I took a picture of my parents with both of their grandchildren (my son and my brother's daughter). I decided to take that picture, and make it an 8x10 and turn it into a scrapbook on canvas layout.

Before I show you my creation, this is December's inspiration:

Here is what I did:

To create the background, I tore up a piece of Authentique (sweetness - grace) paper and modge podged them to the corners.

Next I used Ranger Ink Emboss it dabber (clear) over TCW kasbah and then sprinkled Marthat Steward Bronze embossing powder over the emboss it. Then tapped it off and repeated it before using my heat gun.

Next I used my homemade texture paste (1/2 cup baking soda, 2 tbs glue, 2 tsp white paint, little water) over Tim Holtz harlequin stencil and then dried with a heat gun. I also used the texture paste with TCW (confetti x 2) and dried with a heat gun.

I then misted the background with tattered angels (cupid, creme de rouge, sugar maple) and Lindy's starburst (lime). I then dabbed over the entire canvas with a papertowel  and put the heat gun lightly over.

I then matted the photo with American Craft cardstock 12x12 (brights) and adherd it with modge podge.

The title I used A2Z's Cherish this moment and misted it with tattered angels (twinkle yellow, sun sisters, patima and indian corn).

The flowers are from my local scrapbook store.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you can play this month at A2Z: http://a2zscraplets.blogspot.ca/2013/12/december-mood-board-challenge.html

Christmas Sled

Another fabulous home-made Christmas present. This time I made my uncle Hal a sled with his address which he can hang on his door:

I used DCWV's new Christmas stack Jolly Whimsy
The bulbs are bazzill chipboard, misted with tattered angels (jazzy blue), the wooden letters are misted with tattered angels (indian corn). Cannot wait to give this to him :)

Some more December layouts (layouts 402-409)

I cannot believe that it is already December 13. . .where did this month go. Between the terrible weather, getting ready for Christmas and my son being sick for the last month I am finding this month has just flown by.

These are a couple of layouts I have done this month:

Layout 402-403 (I had all these photos of kyle eating his first foods but didn't really want to make a layout of each photo so decided to make them all on one layout - - love this layout and the DCWV baby boy papers)

Layout 404 (another NICU photo)

Layout 405 (a rare layout when I am actually the subject of the page as I really don't like my photo being taken)

Layout 406-407 (pictures of kyle's party guests at his 2nd birthday)

Layout 408 (mommy's little helper)

Layout 409 (snuggles. . .this layout completes all the NICU pictures being scrapped!!!!)
