thank you - LCOM #80 card

I have started making thank you cards to send out to companies when I win one of their prizes. Last month I filled out a survey for Blue Moon Beads and found out that i was randomly selected from all those who filled out a survey to receive a prize. It came in the mail this week and it was filled with beads and jewlery. it was so much fun to open and explore so I wanted a fun card to match.

I used Let's Capture Our Memories sketch #80 by Laura Whitaker to create the card. here is the sketch:

And my take:

i am so happy with the way this card came out as it is just such a fun happy card!!!

Supplies used:
paper: dcwv 6x6 stack
ink: distress ink (mustard seed)
other: fancy pants (nautical die cuts), pebbles (rub on)

Hope you can play along this month at Let's Capture our Memories: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2014/07/lcom-sketch-80-reveal.html

For the newlyweds - LCOM #79 card

As soon as I saw this card sketch I knew I wanted to create it for my cousin as the card to go along with the wedding album I made them. The card sketch is by Vicki Saulnier:

I stayed with the same colours and embellishments as i used with their album:

I embossed a piece of cardstock and then inked it with distress ink (weathered wood). i then glued flowers and stamped (stampin up with black soot).

I have been wanting to scrap photos of my mom and my son when she took him to his swimming lessons when she was up in the fall and have been waiting for the perfect sketch and when i saw this one I just fell in love and knew that this would be the sketch as the stripes of papers in the background reminded me of waves. Here is my take:

Boo!! i c u - LCOM #80 (layout 253)

I am so grateful for my husband who watched our son all weekend so I could scrap and try and be as creative as I could this weekend before we head out on holidays.

This week's Let's Capture Our Memories sketch is by the talented Laura Whitaker (I seriously cannot say how much I love how versatile her sketches are!!!!):

I stayed fairly true the sketch. I stayed with a monochromatic theme since the picture is so yellow (my dad took this picture of kyle while he climbed through a yellow tunnel) so I wanted to continue the yellow throughout the page. Once I finished the page, it looked unfinished so i added some pearls and buttons to give the page more life.

Supplies used:
papers: stampin up, bo bunny (on the go gears), gcd studios (indian summer)
ink: distress ink (mustard seed)
pearls: flourish with a bling (mango)
alphas: doodlebug design
brads: doodlebug design (chunky brads)
buttons: recollection
stencil: tim holtz layering stencil (arrows)
stickers: unknown (been in my stash forever)
ribbon: ospray
home-made modelling paste

Anyways back to this month's challenge, it is a sketch from sketch savvy:

Here is my take, I used the femme fatale stack (which was a gift from my husband that he bought a couple of months ago when he went away for the weekend and came back with a couple of paper packs as gifts. . .i know he's so sweet):

Other supplies:
inks/sprays/paint: distress ink (black soot), adirondak dabber (juniper), distress paint (victorian velvet), distress stain (seedless preserves, mowed lawn), lindys stamp gang (freaky franken-lime, sea grass green, gregarious grey, sweet violet purple teal)

Swim - Scrap Much? July 11 reveal (layout 250)

I am feeling almost caught up (almost)!!!!! I am trying to get as much personal scrapping done in the next couple of days before I leave on holidays since I won't be able to scrap while I'm away and don't want to go into with-drawl too much.

July's Scrap Much? reveal is a wonderful sketch by Laura Whitaker:

Here is my take:

I stayed fairly close to the sketch and am quite happy with the outcome :)

Supplies used:
paper: simple stories (snap teal chevron/mini dot), unknown
washi tape: dollar store

Present (layout 249)

The first sketch this month from Stuck Sketches was so fun this month that I decided that I would give it a fun look with bright vibrant colours. Here is the sketch from Laura Whitaker:

I was at the scrapbook store yesterday picking up some final supplies for my cousin's wedding album (see previous post) when I saw this super fun paper from Heidi Swapp (favorite things wordy, dreamy ticket to ride) and decided to cut it up into the triangles and inked them in distress ink (peacock feathers) for the background. Anyways before I get more into my layout I may as well show it to you:

To create the background I misted perfect pearls (turquoise), lindy's stamp gang (gregarious grey, sweet violet purple teal, moonlit mulberry, salt water taffy) and painted the outside with distress paint (salty ocean). I then added some washi tape (dollar store). And photos from my son's 2nd birthday party. I then added some die-cuts (k&company sesame street) as the twist from Frosted Designs. Added title (doodlebug design) and added a couple of star stickers as I found it was just missing a little something.

I am also entering this in Papercrafting challenge Magazine Monday Week #58:

I was inspired by the vibrant colours, and birthday theme.

halloween cuties - A2Z Scraplets July challenge (layout 248)

I am soooo glad that painting and the wedding scrapbook is DONE and I can work on my own layouts. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love creating for my friends and family but with holidays taking up half of July I didn't think I would get personal scrapping done so was so happy I was able to scrap my own photos last night and this morning. I  was so inspired by this month's A2Z scraplets challenge, it is a puzzle challenge (so super fun) so i was able to have lots of this one.

The puzzle ingredients are:
And of course to use an A2Z scraplet. I used:
Mask 1 Large Shape

And using a pagemap as an inspiration I created:

I am sooo happy with the way this turned out (probably one of my most favorite layouts I have created in a while). I painted the mask using Tim Holtz Distress paint (mowed lawn, antique bronze). I then glittered the mask with martha stewart fine glitter and glued pieces of feathers on the corner of the mask.

The arrow, heart and clock are in the hexagons while the zig zags are in the paper.

Other supplies:
paper: recollections, october afternoon (witch hazel), fancy pants designs (everyday circus)
punch: stampin up (hexagon)
stickers: jollee's boutique
button: recollections
brads: bo bunny, recollection
alphas: thickers (daydream foam letter stickers)
stencil: tim holtz layering stencil (arrows)
journalling: little yellow bicycle (booville)
modeling texture: home-made

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, hope you can play along this month at A2Z Scraplets: http://a2zscraplets.blogspot.com.au/2014/07/july-challenge.html

Wedding Album (layout 232-247)

Hello everyone, I have been away for the last little while since I have been crazy busy doing home renos. Our contractor finally finished his first part of the renos, last Friday so last weekend I was finally given the go-ahead to paint and since I have been wanting to paint for about three weeks I jumped at the opportunity (even cancelled camping to do so). I knew it would be a big job but it took all weekend but finally got it finished. Friday night I did the 1st coat in my son's room, Saturday morning did the 2nd coat. Saturday afternoon put the 1st coat in the kitchen and hallway. Saturday night did the 1st coat in the living room. Sunday morning did the 2nd coat in the kitchen/hallway and put my son's room back together. Sunday night 2nd coat in the living room. So by Sunday night my arms were exhausted and needed a break.

Unfortunately there is no rest for the wicked (hehehe not that i'm that wicked), as I leave for holidays this upcoming week and wanted to make a wedding album for my cousin who is getting married in September but figured since I'll be seeing them on holidays that i could bring it with me and save on shipping. So this week (after I put the kitchen, living room, and hallway back together), I have been frantically working on a wedding album. And because I have been going crazy on it I was actually get some scrapping for myself done as well (see next posts. . .yes i said postS)!!

Here is my cousin's wedding album (you will have to wait a little longer to see the renos since our floors aren't in yet nor is our kitchen done and i want to show the complete transformation so will have to wait a couple more weeks):

232:

233&234: based on a sketch I found on pinterest

235&236: based on a PageMaps sketch

237&238: based on one page sketch by Vicki Saulnier (aka princess pea) as part of Let's Capture our Memories (LCOM) sketch #79. When I first saw this sketch I thought it would make the most amazing two page sketch for this wedding album because of all the journaling blocks that I used from Simple Stories (story of us). Hope you can play along with LCOM: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2014/07/lcom-sketch-79-reveal.html

Here is LCOM's sketch inspiration:
And my take (turning it into a 2-page):

239-240: based on a sketch i found on pinterest

241-242: based on a sketch by Laura Whitaker for ScrapMuch? July 4th reveal:

Here is my take, I pretty much stuck to the sketch except I used larger flowers (to keep with the rest of the album) and added a bunch more embellishments and journaling blocks. Hope you can play along this month with ScrapMuch? http://www.shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2014/07/sketch-y-friday-with-team-and-june.html

Thank you for stopping by, i really enjoyed making this album and was going for a more elegant and clean look as my cousin is a little older, it is his second marriage, and they are having a smaller more intimate wedding so it will be a little more low-key.

Papers: bazzill basics (blackbird cardstock), martha stewart (kraft doily lace & neutrals)
journaling blocks: simple stories (story of us)
die-cuts: simple stories (story of us)
punch: martha stewart (lattice border, heart)
flowers: petaloo (color me crazy mulberry), dollar store
gems: my mind's eye (lush 2 navy)
ink: distress ink (seedless preserves), tattered angels (sapphire, patina), perfect pearls mist (grape fizz), distress stain (seedless preserves), lindy's stamp gang (sweet violet purple teal, gregarious grey)

Oh Canada - Magazine Monday Week 57 (layout 231)

Yay I finally found some time to create for Magazine Monday, which is actually quite surprising since yesterday when i created while my son slept in the afternoon, in the morning I cleaned and at night I washed walls as I am taping and priming today so i can paint this weekend. Anyways here is this week's inspiration:
Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 57 Inspiration Piece (image)

A couple of months ago I saw a patriotic Canadian layout using red/white/blue (typically American patriotic colours) and I thought hey i could do that too.

I used a sketch from pagemaps. I was inspired by the red/white/blue as well as the angles (tilted frames) as well as action photos. Here is my take:

Supplies used:
paper: DCWV (summer dream)
ink: tattered angels (indian corn, sapphire), distress ink (broken china)
stickers: I used Cosmo Cricket (tiny text love) and cut the sayings up for my journallin
die-cuts: fancy pants (nautical), imaginisce (endless summer), pretty little studio (sand castle word flashcards), heidi swapp (ephemera)
alphas: dear lizzy thickers (matte puffy stickers)
frames: fancy pants (be loved)
ribbon: unknown

a couple of cards

I started getting into makin cards last year when i made it my mission to make all my christmas cards and since then my family has requested home-made cards.

One for my brother's birthday:

On for my sister-in-law's birthday. Her birthday is in October; however, last year present went missing so this summer I am bringing it with me when i go home and giving it to her so it won't get lost:

Anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law:

Gender Neutral Baby Album with co-ordinating card (layout 211-230)

One of my very dear friends from high-school, Deanne, and her husband are expecting their first child and are not finding out the sex of the baby until he/she arrives, which makes making their present a bit more difficult. So I took Deanne's advice and stayed with yellows and greens. I am quite happy with this album considering they also have no theme either so i was kinda left to my own devices:

and co-ordinating card:

Supplies used:
paper: momenta (had in my stash forever), recollections
stickers: dollar store, close to my heart, sticko, k&company
border: martha stewart (baby)
inks: tim holtz distress ink (seedless preserves, frayed burlap, mustard seed, forest moss), sharpie (green)
