last layout for the month is a fun one i created using DCWV melon twist stack of my cousin taken a couple of years ago at a family wedding:

Sunday 29 March 2015

Splash Park Laughts - LCOM#115 (125/365)

Next layout to share with you is one I created based on Laura Whitaker's sketch for Let's Capture Our Memories #115:

Here is my take:

I painted the background with tim holtz distress paint (salty ocean), I waited overnight so that it was completely dry and then sprayed lindy's stamp gang starburst (tibetan poppy teal) and them while it was wet i sponged it around the page. I then let it dry overnight again. I then added photos, paperclips (with added washi tape), brads to anchor some of the photos, enamel dots and titlework. I then used sequins (i'm addicted to sequins right now!!!) to make it look like water was coming out of the photos.

a bunch of cards

This has been a busy week, we had a birthday party, a baby shower, and had to send a card to my dad so it would get to him by his birthday :)

First up is a card I created for the baby shower, I always get the older sibling a gift too when we go ot a baby shower so he/she doesn't get jealous of all the presents their new baby brother/sister is getting. I created the following big brother card based on card sketch #45 from sketch~n~scrap: http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=4217092881&group=0&frame_type=b&context=blog_profile&context_ids=5195193&blog=5195193&frame=1&click=0&user=0

Here is my take:

Next up is a card I created for my dad who is going to be 60 this year!!!! I was inspired by this week's PCC Magazine Monday, as my dad is part of the baby boom : http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-92/

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 92 Inspiration Piece (image)

and based on Let's Capture Our Memories card sketch #115:

Next up is a baby card to go with the hunting/camo themed baby album:

Hunting/camo baby album (layout 105-124/365)

A friend of mine who we go to playgroup with, had a baby a couple of weeks ago and her baby shower was today. The family is self-proclaimed "rednecks" and love all things outdoors and were doing a camo themed room for their new one. I found this wonderful paperpack from Kaisercraft which was all oranges, browns, greens and grays - - a very rough and tumble package which is perfect but I wanted to soften it a bit so added some cute washi tape and embellies throughout the album to make it more baby albumish (yes i just made up a word). The majority of the pages are templates I have used before but found a couple of layouts on The Memory Nest: Make it Monday and just knew that I wanted to use two of their sketches (for the first and last page): http://thememorynest.blogspot.ca/p/make-it-monday.html

joy - let's get sketchy week 1 (104/365)

final layout to share with you today is based on Lets Get Sketchy Week 1:

Here is my take:

I have been busy trying to get Christmas 2013 pictures scrapped so I can print off 2014 photos (not like I need pictures to print off since i have about 100+ waiting to be scrapped). This was such a fun sketch to play with and was inspired by the pink in both my niece and grandmother's shirt so used Jillibean soup's christmas cheer chowder collection and am so happy with this layout!!!

Next up is a layout I created based on Let's Get Sketchy Week 4, I loved this sketch because it was the perfect opportunity to get rid of the little square scraps I had left over from christmas presents a couple of years ago when I made paper quilts. Here is the sketch from the talented Laura Whitaker:

this is me (100/365)

It is only fitting that the 100th layout this year is one of myself. Now i'm going to be honest, I'm not sure when this photo was taken but I'm going to say between 2002-2004 somewhere in there. I hardly ever scrap myself but when I found this photo I knew I had to scrap it. . .seriously look at the size of the phone!!!!

you are my sunshine my only sunshine - LCOM #114 (99/365)

Flora - ScrapMuch? sketchy Friday March 20th DT reveal (91/365)

Good morning everyone, hope you are having a wonderful day!!! Are you glad it's Friday?? I am so excited this week the sun has made it's appearance at least once a day and one day we even got up to 11 degrees!!!! I know not a huge hot day but it is melting the snow - - which is good (we can play outside without freezing) and bad (melt during the day + cold at night = ice rink in the morning when we walk to the car).

Here is this week's fun sketch:

When I first saw this sketch I was so excited because when I saw the polka dot background the first thing I thought was planting flowers in my garden (i think it's because you poke your finger in the soil before you put the seed in). So with that in mind I wanted to scrap a photo of a couple of summers ago when I took my son to the local greenhouse  for the first time. Here is my layout:

I know what you are thinking - - this is pretty different than what I usually create. But I wanted to try something new and have fun with textures and mediums because that is what I felt going through the greenhouse, there was so much to smell, touch, see, and taste. So I wanted that to come across on the layout.

Here are some close-ups and in-progress photos:

To start I used light modeling paste over crafter's workshop stencil (paradise), then using a sponge brush painted white gesso on the page

I then painted adirondack dabber (raspberry) over the gesso:

when the raspberry paint dried (used a heat gun to speed up the process), I painted tim holtz distress paint (seedless preserves) on the outside, middle and inside (was trying to make it look like the flower in my photo)

I wasn't happy with the way the texture paste looked beside the photo (thought it was too bright/white) so I took tim holtz distress paint (mowed lawn) and a fine paint brush and painted where I had used the stencil (usually if i want to tint modeling paste I will use gelatos; but as i was happy with the page up to this point, i decided i would see if painting the dried paste wouldd work. . .and low and behold it did!!)

I then took my prima (sunrise sunset) clear stamp and tim holtz distress pad (black soot) and stamped over the painted flower - - was going for a flower garden look here

I wanted to add a tag but didn't have one that I like (or paper i liked to go with it so I decided to cover a tag that I had in my stash with washi tape
To finish the tag off I used my crop-a-dile to add the grommet:

To finish the layout off, I stained (tim holtz distress stain: seedless preserves) and misted (lindy's stamp gang starburst:cranberry mist burgundy) a doily, then while it was still wet added some martha stewart fine glitter (purple spinel) and then tapped off the glitter. . .there was still lots of glitter on the doily so i took my heat gun and blew a bunch off (*note to self - - when using a heat gun and glitter next time stand over the garbage - - i am still finding purple glitter all over my scrap space).

Other supplies:
paper: dcwv (cardstock), bo bunny (enchanted garden)
ribbon: webster's pages (sprinkled with love)
twine: american crafts
flowers: petaloo (wild mini blossoms: fushia), bo bunny (plum purple pansy)
alphas: thickers (rockabye: leaf), my little shoe box (mini alphabet sticker: lilac)

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments :)
