Mountains - Pixels and Paper February DT reveal

Oh my goodness can you believe it is already February?? Seriously where did January go???!!!?!?!?! We had some exciting news in our family yesterday, we upgraded our car and got a brand new car!!!!! So exciting!!!!

Anyways, with it being February 1st, that means a brand new challenge at Pixels and Paper!!!! Here is the wonderful inspiration:

The requirement is to create a travel themed layout - - how you interpret this is up to you, but please let us know when you link up.

Here is my take on this month's sketch:

I was inspired by the colours, especially the blue and greens. I cut the title with my silhouette and then inked around the cut before adding a couple of pictures from our trip to Jasper National park from last winter. I wasn't completely happy with the layout yet so I cut ot a mountain scene and some mountain sheep (which are VERY prevalent in Jasper National Park) and inked the edges, then added a road, and painted wood veneer car. I am loving this layout now and just screams road trip!!!

Hope you can play along with us at Pixels and Papers this month, and I hope I hae been able to inspire you to play along for your  chance to win a prize. You have until the end of February to link p your layout: http://pixelsandpaperchallengeblog.blogspot.ca/2016/02/and-now-its-february.html

Bless - Scrap the Boys January Challenge

Next up is a sweet layout of my son in a football toy box that we had been looking for forever for my brother and we finally found it after years of searching. We brought it over to my brother's house and kyle was trying to climb inside so my brother lifted him up and put him in it and then held him up (since he wasn't quite able to stand on his own yet).

I created this layout based on a Paper Issues sketch and Scrap the Boys January Challenge:

Party Day

Good afternoon, hope you all have a great weekend!!! I was able to get some scrapping done yesterday. First up is layout of a picture I took of my son, the morning of his 3rd birthday party. He was sitting on the couch snuggling with his cat in the hat doll watching tv while I was doing last minute party cookng. I took a picture because I thought it was so cute since his 3rd birthday theme was cat in the hat.

Their challenge is to use the following as inspiration:

Seasons Greetings - Let's Scrap January 15th DT reveal

Good morning everyone!!!  today is the 15th which means sketch reveal day at Let's Scrap!!! When I first saw this sketch, I was definitely indimidated since all I could see was a travel layout (and I don't have any travel photos (well any exotic travel photos) so i was STUMPED. . .then one day while looking at it I thought of switching the globe to a snowflake and then the layout just came together!! These are all pictures we received this year from my Uncle Adrian and his children that came as our Christmas cards.

The title and snowflake were cut with my silhouette. The strips are washi tape that I got for christmas, the flowers are prima and the reindeer is actually a tag I got on one of my Christmas presents this year from my brother and sister-in-law. I also added some extra sparkle sparkle to the snowflake with stickles since I love my bling!!!

Nana's Shadow

Whenever my mom and son get together, my son is my mom's shadow, he follows her everywhere and tries to do everything she does. Here are a couple more photos I scrapped left from summer 2013:

Can you believe I only used scraps for this layout!!!!

I used Sketch~n~scrap #96: http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com

Happier than a monster with a balloon

Next up is another couple of photos from the summer of 2013, this time of my son with my brother. I used papers from Fancy Pants "Be Different" with embellies from the same collection as well as boys rule (crate paper) and teresa collins:

Let it Snow

Next up is probably my favorite project I made this weekend, I love the colours with the bling and everything came together so perfectly I just LOVE IT!!!!!

I created this for a  couple of challenges.

Shiny Objects is a local blog/scrapper/store who is so creative and makes the most fabulous journal pages, I am playing along with her very first weekend junket: http://shinnyobjects.blogspot.ca/2016/01/weekend-junket-01.html

Colors that Inspire...WINTER = used new colours

color - spray it = yes
technique - splatter, splat, splash &/or splotch = splatters
add character - dimension = added different layers of snowflakes, added sequins, and bling and lots of layers
Use something NEW (new cut file from Paper Issues as well as new paper I received as a Christmas gift), something OLD (I heat embossed one of the snowflakes with martha stewart silver embossing powder that I have had for over two years), something BORROWED (I borrowed the snowflake stamps from a coworker) and something BOLD (the title)!

I am also submitting this to Paper Issues take 5: http://paperissues.blogspot.ca/2016/01/take-5-tuesday-challenge.html
Here is this months inspiration list:

Christmas at Nana's

Next up tonight is a fun layout of my son and my mom (his nana) taking a bath (aka bubble fight) when we were home for Christmas 2013:

I was inspired by the colours in this month's ScrapMuch? January Colour Challenge: http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2016/01/january-colour-challenge-and-winner.html

I used Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday (Jan 9) sketch: http://paperissues.blogspot.nl/2016/01/sketchy-saturday-192016.html

Cherish

A couple of weeks ago, we were fortunate enough to go home for Christmas and see my family and friends, most whom I haven't seen in a year, including my niece Sadie. She had her third birthday at the beginning of December and has grown so much since we saw her last year. I haven't gotten my pictures developed yet, but this picture was taken and developed by my parents neighbour and I was so happy he was able to capture a photo of the two of us since Sadie doesn't like her photo taken (hence why neither of us are looking), it was especially nice receiving the photo since I never even knew he was taking pictures of us.

I used Stuck?! Sketches January 1st sketch because I thought it was a fun, feminine sketch that would work well with this photo: http://stucksketches.blogspot.ca/2016/01/january-1-2016-challenge.html

I was also inspired by Paper Issues pinspired board with the purples and the blues: http://paperissues.blogspot.ca/2016/01/are-you-ready-to-be-pinspired.html

Cheeky

Next up is a layout I created of my son and niece a couple of summers ago (trying to finish up scrapping summer 2013):

I used a stencil I've had for a couple of years and misted with with four different colours, papers from my stash, and mixed it with bling/washi/stickers/and flowers I got in the last couple of  months.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you can play along with Sketches in Thyme :)

Happy New Years

I thought I would share my first layout I made for myself which I thought would be fitting if I scrapped the only picture i took last new year's eve:

I was inspired by the colours (I misted the background) and theme from PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine monday week 128: http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-128/

**for some reason I am not able to copy the image from this week's inspiration

I used Sketches in Thyme #180 as my sketch inspiration: http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.ca/2016/01/sketch-180-reveal-and-feature.html
