Busy Crop Weekend (layout 64-71)

Last weekend I went on my very first cropping weekend; although it was cut short and I couldn't go sunday since my husband had to go into edmonton to pick up our new toy hauler trailer. I was scared to go because this is the first time I have been away from my son for such a long period of time and consider myself fairly shy and didn't know anyone (which was scary in itself).

I was very productive though since i packed kits ahead of time so all I had to do was pick out which layout I wanted to do and pull out that kit. I found this was the best way to do things since my sketch, embellies, paper, etc was all in the kit so all i had to do was put it together. I don't know about you but i find the most time-consuming part of scrapbooking is picking out pictures and then finding paper and embellies to go with it. So I spent the monday, tuesday and wednesday before my crop putting 12 kits together (i went through 10 but I also made another three layouts I hadn't planned on for the different challenges they had through the weekend).

Crop challenges:

Challenge 2: cooking (layout 64)

Challenge 2: getting ready for vacation (layout 65)

Challenge 3: a time where you were challenged (layout 66)

Layouts I did at the crop:

Auntie Erin - Scrap Around the World March Mood Board Challenge (layout 59)

Scrap around the world is becoming my go-to when i need inspiration from a mood board, they are just so fun to work with and they are so pretty!!!!

Here is March's inspiration:

And here is my take:

I took inspiration from the Cherry Blossom tree (delicate, little, only for a little bit of time). I chose to scrap a picture of my friend holding our friend's daughter the day she was born. Babies are babies for such a short period of time and so tiny and delicate (like a cherry blossom). I added the doily because I wanted to layer everything (like the dress). I also painted the background with paint, mist and sprays (paintbrush).

I am so happy with the way this layout came together, it is just so soft and pretty and captures the moment perfectly.

Supplies used:
paper: martha stewart (vintage girl)
doily: unknown
flowers: prima (princess), unknown
leaves: prima (white), unknown
ribbon: offray, american craft twine
inks: distress ink (spun sugar), Lindy's starburst (cape cod coral, salt water taffy, clam bake beige)
bling: flourish with a bling (pearl - copper, chloe-pink)
mask: the crafter's workshop (paradise)

thank you for stopping by and hope you can play along this month at scrap around the world: http://www.bloglovin.com/frame?post=2428943697&group=0&frame_type=a&blog=7331633&link=aHR0cDovL3NjcmFwYXJvdW5kdGhld29ybGQuYmxvZ3Nwb3QuY29tLzIwMTQvMDMvbWFyY2gtMjAxNC1jaGFsbGVuZ2UtMTEtcHJldHR5LWluLXBpbmsuaHRtbA&frame=1&click=0&user=0

Get Well Soon - LCOM #61 (card)

About a month and a half ago at a family fun event, a friend of mine fell from an indoor rock climbing wall. She was rushed to hospital and since then has had three surgeries. As a community we decided to make meals for the family to help them out. I signed up for this week and made them a pork alfredo lasagna (made us one too - - so yummy) and decided I would make her a get well card to go along with the meal.

I used Let's Capture Our Memories Sketch #61 card sketch by Laura Whitaker:

And here is my take:

I changed it up a bit since I wanted a bright and cheery card (wanted her to smile) and because my sentiment is also bright I needed to put it on cardstock so it would stick out.

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, hope you play along this month at http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2014/03/lcom-sketch-61-reveal-and-special-guest.html

I swear woman. . . - Canadian Scrapbook March Sketchy Challenge (layout 31)

Another fabulous sketch by Sue Sykes:
Mar 2014 Sketch

I was so inspired by this sketch that i got started right away and came up with this:

I took this picture over Christmas holidays at my parents annual Christmas Eve party. Natalie had a little too much to drink and Shane was trying to take her cup away, but as i snapped the picture it looked like he was going to slap her. So then it turned into a big joke that Natalie was so drunk that she had to be man handled to calm down (yes we had a lot of fun that night).

I turned the sketch so it would fit my picture :)

supplies used:
paper: DCWV (evergreen stack)
inks: distress pad (black soot), lindy's (lime)
border: k&company (glitter adhesive borders)
ribbon: recollections
journalling card: lilybeedesigns
brads: bo bunny (gold and silver brads)
bling/buttons/eyelets: unknown
other: heidi swapp (ephemera)
