{my sweet earth} May Create to Live Challenge (layout 175)

Here is this month's inspiration:

Creat to Live May Challenge

I always love Susan's inspiration because it really pushes me to use different techniques and mixed media products.

As soon as I saw the inspiration, I knew exactly which photo I wanted to use. My son was a premie (born at 29 weeks, aka 11 weeks early) and was in the nicu for 7 weeks. Although he caught up quite quickly in size, it takes him a little longer to reach milestones (like crawling). For the longest time, Kyle would roll around to get where he wanted to go, it was until he was 10 months, 7 days when he started to crawl. I was so excited that I started to cry but then had to pull myself together so I could document it on film (you know you're a scrapbooker when. . .). Here is my take on my little adventurer:

To create the background, I sponged a couple of layers of silver sparkle paint and then spritzed it with Tattered Angels (indian corn). I added the buttons since my son is obsessed with buttons :)

Page Maps 7th Anniversary Grand Prize (layout 174)

As you may or may not know, Pagemaps is my absolute go-to when I am needing layout inspiration. Becky Fleck and her team is amazing and have countless sketches to use over and over.

They are celebrating their 7th anniversary and are so incredibly generous they are giving us the opportunity to win prizes!!!! The grand prize is a $200 gift certificate to A Cherry on Top!!!! OMG I don't know what I would even do if I won (I have a feeling I would do ALOT of crying out of pure joy).

To be eligible for the grand prize, you have to create a layout based on the following sketch:

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you can play along (there is still time since you have until May 31st 2013 to submit your entry

Have a great day :)

Canadian Scrapbooker May Sketchy Challenge (layout 160)

I loved working with DCWV's Screen Print Stack - Neutrals stack so much that I used it for this month's Canadian Scrapbooker sketchy challenge.

Here is this month's inspiration, another wonderful sketch by the extremely talented Sue Sykes:

DCWV May Stack-a-holic Challenge (layout 159)

I am addicted to paper and every month I get (atleast) one new DCWV stack to create a new layout for their monthly Stack-a-holic Challenge. This month was no different, well except I got three new pads (blushing with embarrassment cause I am feeding my own paper addiction). This month I got the Haberdash Stack, The Heartfelt Stack, and the Screen Print Stack (neutrals).

Here is this month's inspiration:

Here is my take (I used the screen print stack - neutrals). I flipped the sketch and omitted the arrows:

Hope you can play along

Thank you for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful day :)

Happy (Belated) National Scrapbook Day (layouts 153-158)

I have no idea where this month went. . .it's already the 22nd and it feels as though May just started. I am thinking that perhaps the month flew by because the snow has finally melted and we have been spending lots of time outside.

For those who didn't know May 4th was (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day. To celebrate I went to my local scrapbook store (well not really local as it's an hour away. . .but the nearest scrapbooking store) Scrapbook Lounge in Cold Lake where they celebrated by having 20% off everything so I got a couple of goodies and then stayed home and scrapbooked for some NSD challenges. Although I didn't win, I had tons of fun.

Here are the layouts I got accomplished on NSD:

that's right 6 layouts in one day!!! that is a new record for me
