Thank you - LCOM #97 card

A couple of weeks ago my son had to do a gymnastics cookie dough fundraiser. Since most of our friends are also in gymnastics and our family is far away our pool of people who would buy was quite small so i took to local buy and sells on facebook advertising the fundraiser and i had a couple of ladies make orders. This week the cookie dough came in so i decided that i would make thank you cards for them and then have my son (who's three) draw them a picture of him at gymnastics (he drew circles in the card because he was rolling - - something he has learned how to do in gymnastics).

I took inspiration from Let's Capture Our Memories #97 card sketch by Laura Whitaker:

Here is my take:

The card is recollections (my husband bought me a couple of huge bulk buys cards one day when he went to the city for work). I sprayed Lindy's Stamp gang starburst (tibetan poppy teal) directly on the card. I then cut Fancy Pants (as you wish: this and that), the circle is the back of the paper using recollections circle punch. The tag is authentique (crush) which i stamped stampin' up tiny sentiments thank you in tim holtz distress pad (black soot). The flower is from my cousin's wedding a couple of years ago which she used to decorate the tables, where the smaller glitter flower is from the dollar store.

Thanks for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, hope you can play along this month at LCOM: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2014/11/lcom-sketch-97-reveal.html

This Kiss - ScrapMuch?! November 21st DT reveal (layout 356)

Good morning!! I am up a little early this morning as we are in a freezing rain warning and I got up with my husband when he came back home after having two tumbles in the driveway trying to get to his truck (needless to say he isn't going to work this morning).

It is Friday which means another amazing sketch over at ScrapMuch?

Here is my take:
This is another photo of my cousin's wedding this past summer (one of the photos my new cousin jenn sent me since I forgot my camera).

To create the background, i used doodlebug design alphas and put them on the cardstock. I took some white cardstock and then used gelatos in white, gold, green and blue to create layers. I then spritzed it and used a paintbrush and went back and forth over the gelatos starting from the top. Once it dried I used tweezers to remove the alphas.

To create the heart: I took a piece of dcwv (white embossed cardstock 6x6) and cut it with creative memories cutters. I then misted it with lindy's stamp gang starburst (whale watch blue). I wasn't completely happy with the way the mist went on so i took my tim holtz blender and working in a circular motion blended it (so much better now)

Other supplies:
papers: recollections
twine: american crafts
banner: heidi swapp (color magic banner design), tim holtz distress stain (broken china)
flowers: prima (annalee small), pearls (forever in time)
other: we r memory keepers (enamel shapes cool)

Jingle All the Way - Crossover Challenge (layout 350)

Hello, another Christmas layout to share. This time I created a layout for Child's Play and Pixels & Paper crossover challenges. I used a pagemaps sketch to scrap a picture my cousin and his family sent me last year in their Christmas card:

The colour inspiration came from Pixels & Paper challenge:

Child's Play has a recipe challenge:
gold (ribbon)
animal (reindeer & dog in photo)
something older than 1 year (ribbon I've had for about two years and the border is about three years old)
3 patterned papers (bg tree paper, green paper, tartan paper)
bling (green paper has shimmer to it, i also added some yellow bling to mimic stars that the reindeers are dancing through)

Supplies used:
paper: dcwv (evergreen stack, scalloped stack)
other: fiskars (border punch snowscape); border (recollections); jolee's boutique (reindeer); ospray (ribbon, gold); bo bunny (silver and gold brad); flourish with a bling (mango pearl)

thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments, hope you can play along this month :)

Tis the season - "Get Inspired" Holiday Challenge (layout 349)

up is a yummy festive layout that I created for Let's Get Sketchy "Get Inspired" Holiday Challenge. In our family, food plays a huge part of my parents annual Christmas Eve party. flowers: bazzill basics (paper flowers: poinsettas and holly leaves), prima (small road trip)
other: pins (little yellow bicycle: christmas stick pins), paperclip & jewels (forever in time), brads (misc christmas brads), wood veneer (studio calico), sticker (dollar store), stamp (inkadinkaclings: folk holidays expressions), washi tape (queen and company: micro dot christmas), ribbon (recollection)

Lobster - November Scrappy Friends Challenge (layout 348)

Hello everyone, back again, this time with a fun layout "Lobster" of my family and I's yearly tradition of going to red lobster:

This layout was made for the scrappy friends challenges. First up is Rochelle's tic-tac-toe:

I went with the lower line of journal card (authentique: radiant), 4+ patterned papers (bo bunny apple cider 6x6 paper pad), and buttons (recollection, unknown)

For Grand Diva's Creative Corner Sketch Challenge, I only did a single page and did the right side:

And Kelly's color challenge, I thought the colours were perfect since shrimp-feast always seems to happen in the fall:

Other supplies used:
alphas: recollection
flowers: bo bunny (apple cider), petaloo (orange daisy)
bling: zva creative (crystals orange), studio calico (dots)
inks: distress ink (frayed burlap), tattered angels (pinecone)

Perseverance (layout 345)

this week has been a rough week with sickness, for three weeks my husband has been sick (viral so no antibiotics) but this week my son started to get it and last night he had it full board (hence why i'm updating this morning).

Yesterday morning while my son was relaxing on the couch watching Cars (favorite movie watches it atleast once a day) I got to go play and created the following layout:

I created this layout based on Sue Sykes sketch for November's Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy challenge:
November 2014 Sketch
And based my colours based on PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday Week 75:
Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 75 Inspiration Piece (image)

I was inspired by the magazine with the ombre background (which I made using gelatos, water and a paint brush) and the fall colours (using bo bunny apple cider paper and autumn song noteworthy). Other supplies used were recollections (alphas) and we r memory  keepers (enamel shapes warm).

I am quite happy with the way this turned out and although the photos were not taken in the fall it works since they work with the colour of the bike and there are still leaves on the ground since winter hit much too soon last year so was not able to rake them all up.

I am also sharing a picture of my wrap-around porch (which I'm not going to lie is a major reason we bought our house) it is larger on the one side that we have enough room for our extra large patio table and is perfect for entertaining summer parties and guests:

I have some more excitement to share!!! A couple of weeks ago I entered a contest with PaperCrafter's Corner and I won the Authentique prize pack. I am happy to say that it came in the mail yesterday and the wonderful people at Authentique were so sorry that they mailed my prize late that they added some extra goodies (items on left side of photo) as an apology. I cannot wait to start playing with them; however, I think my favorite part is they added a package of their 8x10 ready to frame radiant prints and I cannot wait to get a frame and hang one in my son's room and when we move into the new house (whenever that may be) the others will hang in his playroom!!! Thank you to Authentique and PCC!!!!

You still have until tomorrow (sunday) to submit your entries for this week's Magazine Monday: http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-75/
