Baby Gift using distress ink blending Tutorial

Hello everyone, today i'm sharing a tutorial on a baby gift using distress ink blending, a vinyl cut (from my silhouette) and a frame:

To start, I found 5 co-ordinating distress inks (since I'm making a baby gift, I chose blues and greens), and an 8x10 white paper (as that is the size of my frame), distress pads (one for each colour), and newspaper (so i'm not inking my workspace):

close ups of the inks:

I'm starting with the lightest blue to the darkest blue then to green so i'm starting with iced spruce:

using a different ink pad for every colour (so not to mix colours any more), I put the pad on my blending tool and in a circular motion swiped over the ink pad:

then using a circular motion, I went slowly across the top of my paper:

next up I used weathered wood (using another pad), used the same circular motion I blended under the top colour and into the top colour:

then used salty ocean, and used a circular motion under weathered wood and into weathered wood:

Next I used peacock feathers, again used circular motion to blend into the colour above:

and finally evergreen bough:

I held the bottom of the page (although you could tape the back of your paper to your surface so it won't move) as I blended and thus my fingers were dirty by the time I held it while blending evergreen bough:

Next up the supplies for the frame:

take frame apart:

I weeded the vinyl (cut file from silhouette) and using a lint roller I worked one section at a time taking it off the paper:

and put it on the frame:

when all the vinyl was on the glass, I put it back together, using my blended paper as the background. Here is the finished project:

Here are a  couple of layouts I have done using blending distress inks:

thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, I hope I have inspired you to use your distress inks in a new way :)

I absolutely love love love the sketches Let's Scrap provides so if time permits I will definitely play along. I would like to thank Cathy, Ada and the rest of the girls for thie on-going support and love over the last year, I have learned so much from you talented ladies and admire you and your creativity so much.
