PJ Story Time - Pixels and Paper March DT reveal!!!

Wow who can believe it is already March!!!! I was driving home after work today and I was so happy that it was still bright out!!! It is so nice that it is no longer dark when I leave for work and dark when I come home. . .it is bright in the morning and the night!!!!

It is March 1st  and you know what that means. . .a new challenge with Pixels and Paper!!!! Here is this month's wonderful inspiration:

**The twist this month: This month we hope to inspire you with this photograph and ask you to create an entry in a MONO CHROMATIC colour scheme (using a single colour selection in different shades). It doesn't have to be brown - you can use any colour base you like.

As to the actual photograph, perhaps this inspires you to document a favourite drink or a special meal you shared with family or friends.  Maybe you have some cute pics of your children indulging in baby cappuccinos or with frothy milk moustaches.  Perhaps you are drawn to the cup and saucer and remember a time in your past when china was an important element or maybe you just like the image of a heart and wish to use these on your page.  Whatever it is we would love to see your take on our challenge this month.

I was inspired by the heart and the idea of unwinding (coffee), hence why I scrapped a picture of my son at an event at our local library:

To make the heart, I weaved four different patterned papers together. I used green for my monochromatic layout as I wanted to pull the shade from my son's shirt in the picture.

Thank you for stopping by, I really hope you can play along this month for your chance to win a fabulous prize!!! You can link up your layout at: http://pixelsandpaperchallengeblog.blogspot.ca/

With Sympathy Card

A couple of weeks ago, my boss lost someone very close to her and I was so upset and felt so useless that I wasn't able to do anything for her, so I made her a card. She was very grateful to receive it.

I used card sketch #67 from sketch~n~scrap: http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com
\

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments :)

Best Friends

Next up is a sweet layout of my niece and her new dog, they are best of friends!!!

I used sketch 99 from sketch~n~scrap: http://sketchnscrap.blogspot.com

I love this sketch and decided to do a monochrome layout to make the picture the star of the layout, I am a big fan of using white backgrounds so just did a little bit of splatter and then layered papers, washi tape, butterflies, flowers, sequins and a doily :)

I am also entering this layout in Scrapbook challenges, Sketch crew crush Andrea who also loves using white paper backgrounds: http://scrapbookchallenges.com/sketch-crew-crush-andrea/

Smile

Greetings everyone!!! I have a couple of layouts to share with you today. I actually made them this past weekend, unfortunately I have been crazy busy so was unable to upload until today but the saddest part is that I slipped on the ice yesterday and am on crutches and am home sick today.

First post today is a fun layout of my niece (cannot show her face). I inked the hearts and splattered the background. I used a 6x6 paper pack for this layout and added some flair, butterflies, bows, sequins, puffy sticker, buttons, banner and border to finish it off. I love this layout because it's so soft and girly.

I am entering this layout to ScrapMuch? February colour challenge: http://shopscrapmuch.blogspot.ca/2016/02/february-colour-challenge.html

I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy February week 3, instead of the triangles, i used hearts: http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.ca/2016/02/february-team-week-2.html

Thank you so much for stopping by, hope you have a great day :)

Lovely

Last layout to share with you today is a fun layout I created of my son opening up a present I had won in a contest. It arrived right after Christmas 2014 so he was still in the mindset that every present is for him and since the prize arrived gift wrapped I really couldn't argue with him.

I am submitting this for a couple of challenges. First I am entering it for February Srap the Boys, I loved this sketch and thought it was so fun, and since the background reminded me of wrapping paper, I knew that I just had to play with it with this photo: http://scraptheboys.blogspot.ca/2016/02/febuary-challenge.html

I am also submitting it for 123 Challenge February Challenge. I used red and blue papers and elements to tie in the colours in the photo. It is perfect that Lovely is an element in the challenge because when my son opened the gift, he had no idea what it was (it was an Ott Light), so i took it out of the box and showed him how it worked and his response was "oooh that's lovely mom." So I had to enter it into this challenge. The hearts are a wonderful addition to the layout because I love my son so much that I will let him open my prize: http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.ca/2016/02/123-challenge-february-2016.html

I am also submitting this layout to Scrap Our Stash February Book challenge as the blues and reds I used are very prominent in the book cover: http://scrapourstash.blogspot.ca/2016/02/february-book-inspired-stash-challenge.html

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, i truly do appreciate the visit :)

Giving Nana a haircut

When my mom and son are together, kyle can pretty much do anything to her (well within reason). During our trip to visit them of Christmas 2014, I was dying my mom's hair and kyle decided nana need a haircut first. Sso we let him "cut" nana's hair using a comb and a tea towel. When he was finally finished, I coloured her hair. It was just too cute that I had to grab my camera and snap some pictures of him "cutting" nana's hair.

I used Stuck?! February 1st sketch:

I used papers from Pink Paislee, brads I got from some gift bag I got in an exchange (so no idea who they are from), snowman stickers are from recollection, alphas are thickers and crate paper, paint is tim holtz, chalk ink from clearsnap and some stickles

Thank you for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, I really do appreciate the feedback. hope you can play along at Stuck?! http://stucksketches.blogspot.ca/2016/02/february-1-2016-challenge.html

Merry Christmas from the Wilsons

Continuing on with the layouts I made Saturday but didn't have time to upload until today, is a fun Christmas card I received from my cousin and his family:

I was inspired by Sketches in Thyme #184:

I used papers from DCWV (candy cane lane stack), doily which I stained with tim holtz distress stain cracked pistachio, the banner is recollection, the snowman is K&company, and the stickers are from the dollar store.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your wonderful comments, hope you can play along this month with Sketches in Thyme: http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.ca/2016/02/karens-take-on-sketch-184.html

Wave Pool Adventure - Let's Scrap Sketches February 15th DT reveal

Good morning everyone!!! Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day and weekend. My weekend was uneventful as husband is sick so our weekend was mostly spent at home trying to get him well, exception was yesterday when we went into the city and went to costco as I had sent in 390 pictures!!!! I'm pretty excited because those pictures I got developed are from January - November of last year!!!! Anyways onto today's DT reveal!! This is a fun sketch that I used pictures from two years ago with a new collection. The pictures are the greatest because my hands were wet while I was taking pictures as I was in and out of the water too but wanted to capture some photos of our first trip to the world waterpark at West Edmonton mall. It was so much fun and although my son was too little/scared to go onto the waterslides, we had lots of fun in the toddler area and wave pool.

And here is today's sketch:

I stayed pretty close to the sketch except instead of the flowers/flourishes/butterflies, I added some of of the embellishments from Echo Park's Pirates Life (everything on this layout is from that same collection).

Hope you can play along this month at Let's Scrap for your chance at a great prize, you have until the end of the month to link your layout for your chance at a prize: http://letsscrapsketches.blogspot.ca/

Merry Christmas

I got the opportunity to scrap this morning, after a couple of weeks of my son being sick and me being sick I just haven't had the energy (or time) to scrap :(

The first layout to share with you today is a fun little layout I created of a Christmas card I got from one of my girlfriends this past Christmas:

I was inspired by the magazine cover from PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday #132. I loved the black and white with the pops of red and that is what I saw in this photo card. I added some green and the gingerbread embellie to give it some dimension and pizzaz!!! http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-132/

Papercrafting Challenge: Magazine Mondays - Week 132 Inspiration Piece (image)

I used sketch #183 from Sketches in Thyme: http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.ca/2016/02/stacys-take-on-sketch-183.html

It's the 1st of the month and you know what that means. . .new sketch inspiration from Let's Scrap!!! Today's sketch is super fun with lots of fun shapes and banners!!!

So fun right??!!!! I loved this sketch as soon as I saw it so decided to do something really fun with the sketch, so I scrapped some pictures of my son's 2nd birthday party (he is now four - - yes I am THAT behind):

I used papers from Simple Stories - - all papers from a 6x6 pad!!! I inked all the edges with clearsnap eye ink pads and the doilies I used pistachio stain from tim holts. The alphas are from thickers and the stickers are from Jolee's boutique and heidi swapp.
