Boys Club - PCC Magazine Monday #67 (layout 309)

After an injury prevented me from participating last week, I couldn't wait to create something from this week's papercrafter's corner Magazine Monday (week 67). Here is this week's inspiration:

What immediately drew me to this cover was the title "Seattle Met," my dad, uncle, and grandpa went to Seattle this weekend to go to the Mariner game. So my original plan was do do a layout of the three of them and their adventures but then realized I didn't have any pictures of the three of them so then was going to do an image idea of Seattle but scrapped that idea.

Back in May, I made an album for my grandma for her birthday. While I was making the album I asked my parents, aunts and uncles for any pictures they may have of my grandma throughout the years. As my uncle was travelling around the USA he was unable to get me pictures in time to give the album to my grandma but the pictures are so fabulous that I had to do something with them so I took copies of them and am making an album for my grandpa and grandma with those photos for Christmas.

I am telling you this because when I saw the magazine cover and scrapped the idea of the boys weekend it made me think of the photos my uncle gave me of a boys fishing trip from the early 90s (maybe even earlier). So anyways this is the second page in my grandparents album:

I think this fits really well with the magazine cover with the nature theme (river in the background) and the idea of a weekend getaway. Every year the "boys" go away for a week-long fishing trip (no girls allowed). I left the journaling card blank so that my grandpa can add his own memories.

To create the background I painted gesso and dried it with my heat gun. I then spread Adirondack acrylic paint in espresso in a swirly pattern using the dabber and let air dry a couple of hours. All the papers are DCWV (limonello stack). alphas are thickers (cherish: grey), the stickers i have had in my stash forever (i think my mom got them for me at a garage sale), the buttons are recollections and the journal card is bo bunny (camp-a-lot noteworthy).

Thank you for stopping by, hope you can play along with PaperCrafter's Corner Magazine Monday: http://papercrafterscorner.com/blog/papercrafting-challenge-magazine-mondays-week-67/

  1. Loved reading the "rest of the story." I bought some gesso, but haven't gotten far in using it. Thanks for explaining how you used it on your great page!
